On Saturday, Ars verified that “Courvoisier” claims to be selling these logins for $1 each on AlphaBay, which launched in late 2014. Another seller, “ThinkingForward,” is selling the same items for $5 each.

As Courvoisier writes: “The credentials provided will provide a valid login to the Uber website…”

According to the list ( Tor, AlphaMarket), he or she has sold 131 such connections since March 18.

In an interview with Motherboard, one seller claimed to have "thousands" for sale, and even provided a sample of these items.

In an emailed to Ars on Saturday morning, Uber spokeswoman Trina Smith said the company had found no evidence of a breach.

“Attempting to illegally access or sell accounts is illegal and we have notified the relevant authorities about this case,” Smith wrote. “This is a good opportunity to remind people to use strong and unique usernames and passwords and to avoid reusing the same credentials across multiple sites and services.”.
