Security company Check Pointhas recently acquired a small Israeli startup called Hyperwise that has developed a threat prevention engine that operates at the CPU.
The technology created by Tel Aviv-based Hyperwise is said to provide a higher threat detection rate and eliminate malware at a much earlier stage of the attack, before the system is fully infected.
The acquisition will bring Hyperwise and its team under the Check Point umbrella and will be part of the new company's operations. Additionally, the technology will be integrated into Check Point's existing security software solutions.
“Innovation in security technology must outpace threat innovation,” said Gil Shwed, CEO and President of Check Point Software Technologies.
“As we integrate the next generation of OS and CPU threat protection into our software solutions, Check Point is equipping our customers with new defense strategies to identify and stop the greatest number of attacks at the earliest stage,” Shwed added
Check Point says the company's finances should be unaffected by the deal, which is estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars. However, the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed by either company, although it is rumored to be just under $100 / 87.7
