The analog signal is being switched off in the country

With the activation of the digital television signal in the islands of the Southeastern Aegean and Crete, the country 's transition process from analog to digital signal is completed on Friday and coverage of over 95% of the country's population is achieved, as provided for by current legislation.

This is the sixth and final switch-off in a row (pause of the analog television signal with the simultaneous start of the digital one) during which a total of 53 broadcasting centers will be activated, which will provide access to the digital television signal to approximately 900 thousand residents of the prefectures of Heraklion, Lassithi, Rethymno, Chania, Cyclades, Dodecanese and Samos.

Of the 53 broadcasting centers, the centers "Malaxa" and "Rogdia" in Crete and "Monte Smith" in Rhodes are already active and transmitting on transitional frequencies. Residents receiving the digital signal from these centers will need to retune their receivers, as the frequencies will change to final ones.
