The focus on premium models and ultra-high resolution is a clear strategic choice for Sony in the television sector, and the first samples are already being presented at CES in Las Vegas.
There, the Japanese company presents the thinnest LCD television in the world, with a thickness smaller than that of most smartphones, as well as its own flagship models of the Xperia Z series.
The Bravia X90C has a thickness of just 4.9 millimeters at its thinnest point, its panel is 4K resolution (i.e., about four times higher than Full HD) and it comes with the new Android TV operating system. Thus, viewers can have direct access to movies, music, games, apps and other provided content from Google, or directly stream content from their Android portable devices to their TV screen.

The TV supports voice search in 42 languages, via the built-in microphone in the touch remote. Also, users can play games that they have on their Android devices, adapted for the TV's large screen and the use of a gamepad.
In September at IFA in Berlin, Philips was the first among the major manufacturers to present a television model with Android TV. However, Sony appears to have added its own touch to the new operating system for smart TVs (announced by Google in June), with suggested apps and some additional features.
The new series of Sony televisions are expected to be available in Europe before the end of the first quarter.
