Someone paid a lot of money for an Apple , and it wasn't the new 5K Retina iMac. In fact, the computer was made in 1976.

An Apple-1 computer – among the first computers developed by Apple – has sold for $905,000 at an auction in New York, almost twice its estimate, according to auction house Bonhams.

The old computer device was built by Steve Wozniak in Steve Jobs' family garage, or rather, in his sister's bedroom, nearly four decades ago. The Apple-1 spurred the release of personal computers that transformed Apple into the tech giant it is today.

A representative from the Henry Ford Museum made the best offer. The museum features innovative technological discoveries in the United States.

This is one of the first 50 Apple-1 computers, created by Jobs and Wozniak for the electronics store Byte Shop.

The computers first sold for $666.66 – a small fraction of the price the computer sells for now. The Apple-1 purchase includes an intact motherboard, vintage keyboard and screen, and a power supply in a wooden box.

Apple-1 computers are extremely rare, and buyers pay handsomely to get their hands on one. Last year, an Apple-1 was sold for $671,400 in Germany to an anonymous businessman from the “Far East.”.
