LulzSec hacker Hector Xavier Monsegur – also known as “Sabu” – may be released from prison.

In a brief filed this week in a U.S. district court, ahead of Monsegur on May 27, government lawyers say that because of his "extremely valuable and productive" work for law enforcement as an informant, Monsegur may be spared a lengthy prison sentence.

The memorandum notes that under U.S. sentencing guidelines, Monsegur faces a sentence of approximately 21 to 26 years.
