The end of Windows XP is just a few days away, but that doesn't mean users are ready for it, as statistics show that millions of computers around the world are still running it.
This is not the case in Australia, as the majority of users in the country have already switched to a newer operating system, according to a local Microsoft executive.
As Microsoft Australia's Marketing Product Manager, Emmanuel Silanesu, characteristically states: "Here in Australia we are a fairly advanced country technologically, we adopt new technologies in a timely manner."
Statistics provided by StatCounter seem to support these statements, as Windows XP is losing users to much newer products, such as Windows 8.
While Windows 7 remains the number one operating system in Australia with 43.92%, Mac OS X and iOS come in second and third place, respectively. Windows 8 is close behind with 7.01%, and Windows XP follows with 6.83%.
Windows 8.1, the latest version of the operating system from Microsoft released in October 2013, is right behind with a market share of 5.29% for the month of March 2014.
