The system will have the ability to perceive head movements
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) today made available a new Apple patent No. 8,655,004 for a “headphone control system.”.
The system will have the ability to perceive and act on head movements and will certainly be worthy of being a future product of the company in the wearables category.
The amateur also shows a series of sensors inside the headphones that will be able to provide health and fitness measurements, as well as temperature and heart rate. The document details how these sensors will be placed on the bottom of the earbuds. The headphones will even have the ability to sense movement.
Apple also characteristically presents the patent in question as being able to switch songs or adjust the volume simply by moving the head forward, backward, right, left, and even in a circular motion.
Finally, the patent also refers to a psychological sensor, which makes AppleInsider believe that in the future Apple could use biometric sensor data to gain insight into the user's mental health.
The patent is registered to Apple engineers Christopher Prest and Quin C. Hoellwarth and the application for registration was made in 2008, which means that Apple has been conducting research in the field of health/physical condition for 5 years.
