Microsoft reportedly in talks to buy French video-sharing service DailyMotion, which is looking for a new investor that could help it become more competitive with Google's YouTube.

A report by the French edition of Reuters says that Microsoft "wants a stake" in DailyMotion, which is still owned by telecom operator Orange.

Although no details have been provided to date, DailyMotion continues its search for a new investor who could provide the necessary capital and expertise to compete with long-term competitor YouTube.

As previous reports have indicated, Microsoft has shown interest in various information services.
