Online advertising networks enable hackers to post malicious advertisements for their own benefit.
It has been reported by some researchers that Yahoo is the number one advertising networkthat hackers and cyber criminals abuse to deliver malware to the general public.
A recent report published by Fox-IT states that over 300,000 users per hour are redirected, due to advertisements, to pages containing exploits, which use Java vulnerabilities to install malware on victims' computers.
For example:
- Zeus
- Andromeda
- Dorkbot
- Tinba/Zusy
- Necurs etc.
