Google is preparing to bring Chrome apps from the desktop to mobile operating systems, as it completes a toolkit to offer developers the ability to build Chrome apps for Android and iOS .
The toolkit will also enable the transfer of existing apps from the desktop to the two mobile platforms.
The new apps will be published on Google Play and Apple 's App Store , with the minimum requirements stating Android 4.x while there is no further information for iOS yet.
Chrome apps are written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, run outside the browser, work offline by default, and have access to specific APIs that are not available in Web apps.
With this move, Google is trying to maximize the use of the Web as a platform, according to its plan, by bringing mobile platforms into the game.
