Threads is getting a new transparency feature (dashboard) that allows users to see how their account is being punished when they violate the platform's rules. At the same time, video ads are making their first appearance on the platform.

The new status dashboard is similar to similar features on Instagram and Facebook, showing when content has been removed or demoted from the feed. It also shows which posts cannot be recommended to other users because they violate Threads’ community guidelines, and whether restrictions have been imposed on the use of specific account features. If users feel they have been unfairly penalized, they can appeal through the status dashboard.

The account status dashboard is already available to Threads users and can be found in the “ account ” section of the settings menu.

Threads is also ramping up its commercialization efforts, with Meta announcing Thursday that it will soon begin testing video ads on the platform. The company said at IAB NewFrontsa “small number” of 19:9 or 1:1 videos will be piloted by advertisers to appear in Threads users’ feeds among organic content.
