Meta releases Threads API to developers

Meta has finally released the long - awaited Threads API to all developers.

As stated in a blog post by the company, with the Threads API, creators, developers and brands "will be able to create their own unique integrations, better manage their presence on Threads and easily share inspiring content with their communities."

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also made a related post, in which he said: " The Threads API is now broadly available and will be coming to more of you soon ."

According to Threads engineer Jesse Chen, with the new API, developers can publish posts, retrieve their own content, and develop tools reply management. This means developers can allow users to hide/unhide or reply to specific replies.

Additionally, developers will be able to leverage analytics, tracking metrics such as the number of views, “likes,” replies, reposts, and quotes at the media and account.

The Threads API was originally announced in October 2023 by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri. The company initially released the API in a closed beta to a select group of partners and developers. At the time, it was said that the Threads API would be made generally available to developers in June. It seems that the company has kept its promise.
