Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a recent earnings report that the Threads app now has more than 150 million monthly active users.

According to his claims, the app has managed to gain 20 million new users in just two months, after saying in February that it had 130 million monthly users. Threads first surpassed 100 million users in July last year.
The app was launched by Meta in early July 2023, with the aim of competing with Elon Musk 's X (formerly Twitter) , which was experiencing problems at the time.

“Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what will be trending tomorrow. Whatever you’re interested in, you can follow it and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions, and creativity with the world,” the app.
However, X has about 550 million monthly active users, according to official figures from Musk and the platform.
Meta, however, wants to make the app more popular and offer more to its users. On Wednesday, Instagram and Threads Adam Mosserisaid it was testing the option to archive posts “with a small number of people.”

User growth
The growth in Threads users could significantly impact Meta's strategy. First, this growth could validate the company's investment in the platform and encourage it to invest more in its development and improvement.
Also, the increase in users can attract more advertisers, increasing ad revenue. This can lead to changes in the company's strategy regarding pricing and ad placement.
Finally, the company's policy on user data protection and security may change . With more users, the company will need to strengthen its efforts to protect the privacy and security of its users.
