Elon Musk: Apologized for low compensation of Tesla employees after their firing

Elon Musk said that some compensation payments sent to former Tesla for their dismissal were too low.

"During Tesla's restructuring process, I found that the compensation packages related to layoffs were too low," Elon Musk said in a brief email to employees on Wednesday. "I apologize for this mistake. It will be addressed immediately.".

However, it is unclear how many former employees were affected.

The email is a rare sign of contrition from Elon Musk, who is facing legal challenges from former employees and Twitter over surprise layoffs. Earlier this week, the billionaire announced that Tesla plans to cut its global workforce by more than 10%, addressing challenges posed by weak demand in the electric vehicle.

Former Tesla employees complained on social media that they faced an inability to access the company's buildings when arriving for work.

On LinkedIn, Nico Murillo, a former production supervisor, shared his experience: “When I tried to enter the workplace ,the security guard removed my badge, informing me that I had been fired.”
