A redesigned Channel Guide is rolling out to the YouTube TV app . The new look brings a cleaner design, consistent with the Google TV Live tab.
Towards the end of April, Google TV introduced a new feature that allows users to watch free built-in channels from a new “Live” tab in the operating system. This new tab offers additional channels beyond those included with Google TV, depending on the apps. For example, installing YouTube TV will add your favorite channels to this page, meaning you never have to open the app.

While the new Live tab on Google TV brought a fresh design, Google is working on a follow-up to the UI. Users spotted on Reddit that YouTube TV has a revamped Channel Guide page with a clean tile design that looks exactly like what the Live tab on Google TV offers. The look is reminiscent of other Google products , like the Android Material You designs we’ve already seen. Each square channel tile has new rays, giving the guide a refreshed look. The background also looks a bit darker than before, which makes it easier to read shows.
The new look isn't part of a massive overhaul, but it's reminiscent of Google's change in design language across both Google TV and YouTube TV. It's also one of the biggest changes to YouTube TV since the addition of picture-in-picture. In the future, it wouldn't be surprising if YouTube adopted similar distinct design elements on its video pages, though this current change appears to be limited to the "Live" aspect of YouTube TV and Google TV.
