While a sequel hasn't been confirmed by either Illumination or Nintendo, Chris Pratt's return as Mario is inevitable. That means many popular characters from the franchise will make their debut in a future film. So there's already one character that fans and actors alike are eager to see.
Jack Black, who voices Bowser, has expressed his desire to see another villain in the sequel: Wario. However, he already knows which actor he wants to voice the character of Wario, and that's Pedro Pascal.
Suggestion: The Mandalorian: The 3rd season premiere is shocking
While Wario may not even be in the sequel, having Pedro Pascal lend his voice to a character seems like the right move for the franchise, given that he's become very popular in recent years, through his role in The Mandalorian and more recently with his portrayal of Joel in The Last of Us . So, having him in the cast of the film seems like a guarantee of good box office numbers.
Who is Wario?

Wario is essentially the exact opposite of Mario. He is presented as a greedy, cruel character who exploits others, unlike Mario. As such, his motivations are based on jealousy and personal gain.
Wario made his first appearance in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Game Boy as the main antagonist. In the game, we learn that when Mario went to rescue Princess Daisy from Tatanga in the game Super Mario Land, Wario, out of jealousy towards Mario, went and captured Mario's castle and the surrounding islands.
