Firefox Android: Now you can listen to articles and hide your email address

Mozilla recently released three new extensions for the browser for Android , allowing Firefox users to take advantage of additional features and improved privacy. With these extensions, you can hide your addressemailwhen registering on a website , eliminate information when sharing URLs tracking , and even listen to articles ! By adding this trio of handy tools to the existing set of Firefox extensions for Android, users can have a better experience while securing their personal data.

The first extension is Firefox Relay , which lets you hide your real email address and enter a proxy email address that redirects incoming emails to your inbox. This is quite similar to Sign in with Apple, which doesn't reveal users. Mozilla introduced a premium Firefox Relay service last year, which offers more than five email aliases and custom domain names.

Mozilla has also added the ClearURL to the add-on store, which cleans URLs of trackers and makes them short . If you've noticed, in social media posts, in addition to the main URL, there are characters and numbers that are intended for tracking. Thanks to the new Firefox extension for Android, you can get rid of trackers.

Additionally, Firefox for Android is now releasing the ReadAloud. This extension allows users to listen to articles via text-to-speech technology so they can do other tasks while staying informed. Of course, this is nothing new. Chrome already offers this service through Google Assistant, and there’s also Listening.io , which turns web pages into podcaststhat you can then enjoy at your leisure in your podcast player of choice!

The company says about the extensions: “These are just a few of the recommended Firefox Android extensions that will help you improve your mobile browsing experience… We want to make the Internet a better place for you. If you want to find more ways to enjoy what the Internet, try revamping your online habits and routines with Mozilla’s tech challenge.”

Mozilla is actively trying to improve Firefox for Android with extensions, but it's also exploring a new browser for iOS. The company is working on an experimental browser based on Gecko for iOS — Gecko is the open-source web engine that powers Firefox on all other platforms. Currently, Apple only allows WebKit-based browsers on its platform — Safari uses the WebKit engine. That could change as European regulations could force Apple to abandon this rule and allow browsers with different web engines.
