Apple is accused again of unfair regulations in the AppStore

If you're familiar with the AppStore's payment system, then you know why there's so much disdain for Apple's rules. If developers want their products to be available on the AppStore, they must not only comply with all the regulations but also pay a 30% fee for paid apps and in-app purchases.

Brazil 's Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica (CADE) is also opposed to this practice. Brazil's National Competition Regulatory Authority is committed to ensuring fair competition between both large and small businesses.

According to AppleInsider, CADE is investigating a report filed by MercadoLibre — a leading e-commerce and payments organization in Latin America — earlier this December. Furthermore, CADE has publicly confirmed that data is just one of many being studied by different institutions around the world.

It’s undeniable that Apple is overly controlling in its practices and regulations towards developers, which often creates backlash. The main argument is that developers should have the autonomy to choose their own payment solutions if they wish. In some cases, such as the Epic vs. Apple case, these regulations can result in large losses of millions of dollars. For smaller-scale independent developers, however, this can translate into drastic reductions in their revenue stream.

The US Department of Justice is preparing to launch an antitrust lawsuit against Apple, and the aforementioned Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service has fined it over $17 million. This is not even the full list of actions taken against the company!

Regardless of the circumstances, Apple has remained silent on the matter. With a plethora of investigations and legal proceedings in the works, it will be interesting to see how this whole situation ultimately resolves.
