Microsoft has warned that some users may find parts of Task Manager unreadable after installing update KB5020044 for Windows 11 22H2 systems .

If you have this particular problem, the user interface elements in Task Manager will appear in confusing colors and make text unreadable.
" After installing KB5020044, you may notice that some elements in the Task Manager interface appear in unexpected colors. Some areas of the UI may not be visible on devices experiencing this error, but Task Manager should run normally ," Microsoft explains
“This issue will affect you if the mode you have selected from Personalization > Colors in Settings is set to 'Custom'.“
Users who have already selected Dark or Light mode in the Settings app will not encounter this error in Task Manager.
Microsoft is currently working on a fix for this widely known issue and promises to release an update in an upcoming release.
Although there is no permanent solution yet, Microsoft has issued a temporary solution to mitigate the issue on affected systems

To get around this problem, you need to select either Dark or Light in the “Choose your mode” setting.

If you want to change the color of your desktop, right-click on the desktop and select Personalization > Colors. Then, select “Dark” or “Light” under “Choose your mode.”
