"Unfortunately, due to the Russian regime's war crimes and human rights violations in Ukraine, we will no longer provide services to users registered in Russia," the company said in emails sent earlier today.

«While we understand that this war may not affect your view or opinion on the matter, your authoritarian government commits human rights violations and is involved in war crimes, therefore this is a political decision we have taken and will uphold.»

Namecheap also asked Russian users to move their top-level domains to other providers by March 6 and offered to help those seeking assistance with the migration.

“If you own top-level domains with us, we ask that you transfer them to another provider by March 6, 2022,” Namecheap added.

“Furthermore, with immediate effect, you will no longer be able to use Namecheap Hosting, EasyWP and private email with a domain provided by another registrar in the .ru, .xn--p1ai (рф), .by, .xn–90ais (бел), and .su zones.“

The CEO of Namecheap told Russians that there are many other providers they can choose to receive the same services. He also stated that they should not be angry with the company's decision, and that the real culprit for the situation is their government.
