If you want to change your desktop wallpaper in Windows 11 and replace it with a built-in background image, a solid color wallpaper, or a custom image, it's easy to do by going to Windows Settings

First, you'll need to open Settings in Windows 11.Microsoft is making it even easier. Right-click on the desktop and select "Personalization" from the menu that appears. Otherwise, click on the "Start" menu.

Once the settings for this section open, find and select “Background”.

In the “Background” settings, locate the “ Personalize Your Background ” option . In the menu that appears, you can select one of three options :
Picture: This allows you to select an image or photo (an image file) to use as your desktop background.
Solid: This allows you to choose a color for your desktop background.
Slideshow: This option allows you to select a folder of images to be used as your desktop background and will change automatically.

It’s worth noting that the “Picture” option only applies to the desktop that’s currently active. If you’re using multiple desktops via the virtual desktops feature in Windows 11, you can set a different picture for each virtual desktop. In contrast, the “Solid” and “Slideshow” options apply to all of your virtual desktops at once.
Choosing an image as your desktop background in Windows 11
If you select “Picture” in the “Personalize Your Background” menu, there are two main options. You can either choose from a group of “Recent Images” by clicking on a thumbnail, or click “Browse Folders” to select an image stored on your computer.
Also, keep in mind that Windows 11 stores the built-in wallpapers in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper, by default.
In the “ Choose a fit for your desktop image ” drop-down menu , select the one that suits you best (in terms of how the image will look in the background).

Choosing a solid color as your desktop background in Windows 11
If you select “Solid Color” in the “Personalize Your Background” menu, you can either choose one of the default background colors, or a custom color by clicking on the “View Colors” option.
The Solid Color option will apply to all virtual desktops at the same time.
Choose Slideshow as desktop background in Windows 11
If you select “Slideshow” in the “Personalize Your Background” drop-down menu, you’ll see options that allow you to browse for a folder containing images. Once you’ve selected the folder, you can set how often the image will change, through the “Change Picture Every” menu.
Once you've changed your desktop background, close Settings and view your desktop in Windows 11. The background will have changed! You can make any changes by going back to Settings.
