iOS 14.5: Will support 5G in Dual-SIM mode on iPhone 12 models

Apple released the first beta version of iOS 14.5 yesterday for developers to test, and one of the most important new features is global support for 5G in Dual-SIM mode on iPhone 12 models (as reported on Twitter by Canadian blogger Rene Ritchie ).

5G Dual-SIM iPhone

The iPhone 12 comes with a physical SIM slot and an eSIM (digital SIM). This feature is known as Dual-SIM. This means you can have two lines of service on one iPhone, which is useful for many people who buy data-only plans when traveling abroad or want to have both personal and business lines on a single phone. Until now, Dual-SIM mode was limited to LTE, but iOS 14.5 introduces support for faster 5G on both lines.

Apple has said that iOS 14.5 will be released to everyone in early spring, so we can expect the software update to arrive in late March or even later.

There were reports that Apple was planning to enable 5G in Dual-SIM mode on iPhones by the end of 2020. Apparently, there was a slight delay, but once the feature is officially released, it will make many users happy.

iOS 14.5 5G

Most people are excited about the arrival of 5G and are waiting to take full advantage of its capabilities. The successor to 4G networks promises incredible speeds that will make people's everyday lives easier.

As Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg said last month, 5G will not just bring faster smartphones but will also have applications in other important areas of daily life. In fact, he said that 5G is “more than just another technological innovation. It’s a platform that enables other innovations.”

Therefore, Apple's move to enable 5G support in Dual-SIM mode on the iPhone 12 with iOS 14.5 will certainly find a positive response.
