However, according to Nintendo historian Forest of Illusion, early indications are that the security described in the leak are not directly related to the final machine, potentially making the new breach much less damaging than it could have been.

The data includes a prototype for the Switch from 2014.

A Twitter user , Kaitlyn Molinas , has summarized the data allegedly contained in the leak.

The documents detail an early prototype for the Nintendo Switch, showing that the console would be much less powerful than the final design, with one or two screens at 480p resolution.

The data leak is also said to contain information about how Nintendo attempted to hire a hacker, and had a plan for how it would deal with the public backlash if the hiring was discovered.

According to the document summaries leaked on Twitter, Nintendo kept detailed data on the hacker in question and even formulated a plan to convince him to join the company, including flying him to Japan to meet its engineering team.

Nintendo has suffered a significant number of data leaks over the past two years, including bugs in various SNES and N64 games, bugs in source code, internal console emulators, and more.

In July, a major data leak also affected Nintendo, involving early prototypes for games such as Yoshi's Island, Star Fox, Super Mario 64, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
