Nima Fazeli insists: I didn't hack any Twitter accounts

On July 31, 2020, the U.S. Attorney’s Office issued a press release titled “The Three Individuals Allegedly Carried Out the Twitter Hack.” The law firm Wallin & Klarich argues that the U.S. Attorney’s Office press release gives the misleading impression that Mr. Fazeli and the other two individuals named in the press release worked together to hack “over 100 social media accounts and defrauded the users of the accounts into sending them money.” Nima Fazeli has hired Wallin & Klarich’s legal counsel to represent him in the United States District Court.

Mr. Fazeli’s attorney wanted to set the record straight about his client. Paul Wallin, a senior partner at Wallin & Klarich, states, “Mr. Fazeli is a student at the University of Central Florida who plans to graduate in December 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and plans to continue his studies by pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. My client has no criminal record and has never been arrested before. He comes from an educated family that is very loving and supportive.”

“When any government agency chooses to issue a press release regarding a crime, it is imperative that they take the time to make clear what crimes each individual is charged with. The lives and reputations of these people have suffered a serious blow after the authorities failed to clarify the situation. The U.S. Attorney’s press release issued on July 31 failed to properly clarify the charges against each defendant and has misrepresented Mr. Fazeli’s role in this case,” Mr. Wallin added.

Mr. Wallin continues, “The truth is that Mr. Fazeli had no involvement in hacking or attempting to hack celebrity Twitter accounts and did not ask any Twitter users to send him Bitcoin .In fact, our client’s charge is not about hacking Twitter or soliciting Bitcoin. It is truly an unrelated charge.”

The press release from the US Attorney stated: “The allegations in a criminal complaint are merely allegations, and the defendants are innocent unless or until the allegations against them are proven.” In this case, Mr. Fazeli filed a motion to dismiss the charges.

At this time, Mr. Fazeli's counsel is asking the media not to contact Mr. Fazeli or his family directly.
