AMD recently released the 20.5.1 Adrenalin 2020 Edition driver programs to beta testers and this update focuses exclusively on providing proper support for the Windows 10 May 2020 update, also known as version 2004 and 19041.
In the release notes, AMD states that the Adrenalin 20.5.1 driver adds support for hardware, but the issue is that the feature is not available for all AMD GPUs.
This function is currently available only for Radeon RX 5600 and Radeon RX 5700 graphics products. For now, it appears that owners of Ryzen or Vega will have to wait longer for the better functionality of the Windows 10 May 2020 Update.
The feature essentially allows the GPU to efficiently manage VRAM instead of relying on Windows 10 to do so. In a blog post, Nvidia confirmed that some users will benefit from increased performance and reduced latency in certain games after enabling the feature.

After applying the driver update, you can enable the feature by going to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.
If you plan to get the beta driver to enable the new GPU feature, keep in mind that there are also a number of known issues in this update, which include performance issues when using Microsoft Edge to play video content on multiple displays.
AMD knows the following known issues in the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.5.1 Beta:
- Oculus™ VR headsets may not display content or may experience severe performance drops with Hardware Scheduling enabled.
- Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen when enabled in certain games and system configurations. Users who may experience issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
- Using the Edge™ web browser to play video content with a multi-view system configuration may cause the system after extended periods of use.
- Performance benchmarks and Radeon WattMan incorrectly report higher than expected speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not affected by this incorrect reporting.
- Some games may experience intermittent pauses during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
- Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may encounter a system crash or TDR when running multiple tasks using Alt + Tab.
- The “desktop corruption” may appear intermittently when HDR is enabled.
- Direct ML Media filters are not currently available in the Radeon Software Media Gallery for video or image.
- Some users may still experience black screen or system wait issues during extended gaming sessions.
The Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.5.1 Beta software is compatible with the following AMD Radeon products.
- Radeon™ RX 5700 Series Graphics
- Radeon™ RX 5600 Series Graphics
You can download the driver from the AMD.
