Millions of Gmail users report serious problem

Gmail

Since last week, millions of users Gmail. The issue was reported on both Windows Latest and MSPowerUser. Users reported that Windows 10's built-in Mail client was deleting emails and/or automatically sending them to spam. One user described his experience:

“I am facing a problem with the Windows 10 Mail app connected to a Google account . I noticed that when I reply to emails, the email I send disappears and cannot be found in the sent folder, trash, spam or anywhere else. The disappeared email cannot be found in the Gmail web interface either. It seems that it is deleted from the server .”

Shortly after, Google said that this was a Microsoft , not Gmail, so users should wait for a update Windows 10

However, a temporary solution for the problem. You need to follow the procedure below:

  1. Go to: Gmail.com > Settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses > Create New Filter
  2. In the “From” field you must enter your address
  3. Click “Create filter”
  4. On the next page, select “Never send to Spam”
  5. Click “Create filter”

This workaround isn't perfect, but it prevents Gmail messages from disappearing or being deleted, and that's the most important thing, until Microsoft releases an official fix.

These days, more and more comments have appeared on the Microsoft Communities forum, which again mentioned the above problems. There are also many reports of similar problems occurring between Outlook and Gmail – both on Windows and Mac. At this point, it is clear that Microsoft has significant synchronization problems with Gmail and there are only some temporary solutions.

“The latest version of Windows Mail has a problem with Gmail settings,” a Windows Insider MVP confirmed. The only solutions are to either a) remove your Gmail account from the Mail app and “weaken” the security settings in Gmail by allowing access to less secure apps, or b) remove account and use Gmail’s manual IMAP settings. If you’re lucky, you might be able to recover some of your lost emails from spam.

So what caused this problem? Most believe it has to do with the problematic Windows 10 May 2020 update. The problem is still plaguing users, as Microsoft has not acknowledged the problem.
