WhatsApp successfully curbs viral content: WhatsApp's new limit on forwarded messages, implemented just this month, is already starting to pay off. The spread of viral content has dropped by 70% worldwide since the restriction was announced.
Now, users will be able to forward the message they want to a single person or group conversation at a time. A similar filter was introduced in 2018, which prohibited sending to more than five recipients.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the service said, "We recently introduced a limit on sharing viral content in a conversation. Since implementing it, we have seen a 70% reduction in the number of such messages. We are making an effort to keep WhatsApp an app for personal and private conversations. We are committed to doing everything we can to address these sharings."
The move could ease the scrutiny Facebook in many countries, including India, its largest market.

New Delhi has asked WhatsApp and other social media servicesto take steps to prevent the spread of posts about the coronavirus, saying there had been a huge surge in messages in recent weeks that could lead to misinformation.
It is worth noting that WhatsApp and Facebook have made several efforts in many countries to help governments spread authentic news about the coronavirus.
