Adobe has announced the end of support for Acrobat and Reader 2015 software
The company plans to end support for these versions of its PDF on April 7. The move is in line with Adobe's policy of withdrawing support after 5 years of general availability.
After the end of April, "Adobe will no longer provide technical support , including product and/or security updates, for all derivatives of a product or product version (e.g., local releases, minor upgrades, operating systems, connectivity products)," the company says .
Of course, the most significant impact of the end of support is that patches for discovered vulnerabilities will no longer be released. Adobe frequently releases updates for its software, including Flash, Reader, Acrobat, and others, and without these updates, users' systems will be vulnerable to exploitation by malicious actors.
This month's update included fixes for critical vulnerabilities in Illustrator CC and Media Encoder. Adobe Bridge CC and Adobe Animate CC also received security updates.
While businesses usually have the leeway to negotiate with the company to gain support for a longer period of time until they can upgrade, consumers are advised to consider upgrading to Adobe Acrobat DC and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC before the deadline.
Adobe also announced a series of improvements to Experience Platform last week, including new tools to boost data management.
The platform is able to extract data from external sources via API, offers marketing tools based on machine learning, and includes data management upgrades to help users meet policy and regulatory requirements.
