The popular torrent site MKVCage is back with a new domain name. Its new “home” is MKVCage.nl.
The website disappeared last month, shortly after a lawsuit was filed by the producers of the Hellboy movie.
But it wasn't just the producers of that movie: the producers of Hitman's Bodyguard, and Mechanic: Resurrection followed suit.
The various lawsuits filed for copyright infringement targeted major piracy sites such as Popcorn Time via YTS, Showbox, and MKVCage.
The lawsuit against MKVCage, filed last month, appeared to have an immediate impact. Shortly after the complaint was filed in a Hawaii district court, MKVCage went offline. At the same time, the uploader stopped uploading torrents to other websites.
However, a new site has recently emerged: MKVCage.nl.
The .nl domain has identical posts to older versions of MKVCage. In addition, it publishes new movies and TV shows, which also appear on MKVCage accounts on other torrent sites like ETTV and 1337x.
What has changed is the formatting of the release notes, which no longer mention the old MKVCage.com domain.
Of course we cannot be 100% sure that the new website is operated by the same person or persons, but everything points in that direction.
The companies, of course, haven't stopped their efforts to take down the site. In a new complaint filed this week in the District Court of Hawaii, HB Productions (Hellboy) informed authorities about the disappearance of MKVCage.com and its resurrection at MKVCage.nl.
The company believes that MKVCage is operated by a person named Muhammad Faizan, who allegedly downloaded the .com domain and changed his Gmail, which was also the email address that the court summons was sent to.
Let's see how long the new domain will last...
