CentOS 8.0.1905: As you may know, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 was released on May 7, 2019.
From that date onward, all friends of the distribution are waiting for the free version of CentOS 8.0.1905 because Red Hat “Enterprise” costs… Among the friends I am also personally, as CentOS is a distribution I have been using for many years (since version 4.5 and later).
The operating system is used primarily for “setting up” servers, but it works flawlessly as a desktop for everyone who is more interested in stability, despite the latest package releases.
Thus, personally, I am waiting for the new distribution because it will include new libraries, which means it will support newer applications.
The CentOS operating system is developed by an open‑source community of contributors. Typically, CentOS users are companies and individuals who do not require strong commercial support for their operating system.

However, as we mentioned in a previous post , the development of the upcoming CentOS 8.0.1905, which started almost immediately, seems to have been stuck for some time .
Today, however, the data has changed. The news is that the distribution's developers announced the release date on the development progress page
We hope the schedule set by the distribution devs is followed and we obtain the popular operating system soon.
The release of the new version is a major milestone in the history of the distribution, as each version of CentOS is maintained for up to 10 years (via security updates).
A new version of CentOS is released approximately every 2 years, and each CentOS release is updated periodically (approximately every 6 months) to support newer hardware. This results in a secure, low-maintenance, reliable, predictable, and reproducible Linux environment.
The distribution is among the most stable available, and I prefer it for the systems I work on, together with the Debian distribution, which is equally stable and reliable.
