Google is reportedly working on a new reading mode for its Chrome desktop browser. This feature is yet another feature following the “Dark mode” and preview tabs that Google recently copied from browsers like Microsoft Edge and Vivaldi.

In a bug report published on Chromium.org, it was mentioned that the reading mode could work on different platforms such as macOS, Linux, and Windows. Currently, the reading mode is available only on Chrome for Android but Google wants to make this feature available on all platforms.
We don't know much at this point, but the bug report says that the reading mode will also be compatible with other operating systems.
The feature is already available in Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Vivaldi. It offers users the ability to read books without distractions by removing ads, sidebars, menus, and other elements from a webpage.
We have not yet learned the exact time when Google will make the reading mode available, but we know that the feature is under development and may soon be available in the “Canary” version of the browser.
Additionally, Google added an experimental dark mode in the beta version of Chrome for Android that was released recently.
