Microsoft has decided to pull all potentially dangerous updates for Office 2010 that were released earlier this month. The company made the move because a large number of users noticed an issue that was causing Microsoft Excel to crash.

More specifically, in January 2019 , four upgrades were made for Office 2010, two upgrades for Office 2013, and another eight for Office 2016. The upgrades that were withdrawn are listed below.
Upgrade for Excel 2010: KB4461627
Update for Office 2010: KB4032217
Update for Office 2010: KB4032225
Office 2010 Update: KB4461616
As soon as the error was recognized by the company, specifically on the 5th of the month, a page with detailed information on the removal of patches in order to restore the functioning of Excel was published on its official site. In particular, the company explained that after installing the upgrade, one may encounter difficulties in Excel or other Microsoft applications. In order to restore proper functioning, it is necessary to uninstall the upgrade by the users themselves, following the instructions in the “More information” category. There is a tutorial there with clear steps to solve the problem, especially for Windows 10.
Additionally, the company revealed that the updates are no longer available for devices that have not already installed them, in order to protect themselves. Of course, this is not the first time we have heard of Microsoft releasing updates with errors, as checks have been carried out quite frequently for both Windows 10 and Windows 7, as well as for 8.1. However, it should be noted that this particular case concerns security issues and not service optimization issues.
Finally, as for users, they should know that today Microsoft is bringing solutions to the productivity suite and the full list of changes will be published alongside the release of new upgrades.
