Microsoft: Windows 10 devices have surpassed those running Windows 7 OS

Windows 10 is finally running on more devices than Windows 7, which was first released in 2009! The number of devices running Windows XP now appears to be around 4.53%.

Microsoft

According to Net MarketShare, which is a third-party tracking platform, Windows 10 has a market share of 39.22%, followed by Windows 7, with a share of 36.90%, percentages recorded in December 2018. Regarding the intermediate versions that were released, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 have almost 5% market share. On the other hand, Apple's Mac OS X 10.14 software runs on 4.54% of devices. However, from the research carried out, the most impressive was that there is a percentage of 4.53% of users who still use devices with the Windows XP operating system, which was first released in 2001.

However, the fact that Windows 10 outnumbers older versions is an achievement for Microsoft, which is constantly trying to push users towards newer versions.

Windows 10

Microsoft released Windows 10 in July 2015 and it was considered by users and experts to be the biggest upgrade ever made to Microsoft software, as it added a revamped UI and a variety of smart features.

Microsoft has said it will release updates for Windows 10 in the future instead of new software iterations. Windows 10 has already had a phenomenal start, with 14 million devices adopting the software in less than 24 hours since its launch. While the company had predicted that Windows 10 would be running on billions of devices by 2018, it appears that the initial goal with these numbers has not been met.

Windows 7

In contrast, Windows 7, which was one of the most successful versions of Windows, was released in 2009 for PC users. The software was considered an incremental upgrade and still had a lot to offer. However, the failure of Windows Vista forced Microsoft to reconsider the software and add new features. That is why Windows 7 was released, reaching 100 million users in less than half a year from its release.

As the years go by, Microsoft seems to change the places it wants to make changes and never stops innovating. While in previous years it was constantly making changes to PC software, recently it has focused on new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the Azure cloud platform.
