Music streaming may have become the most popular, not to mention the most lucrative way to listen to music these days, but unfortunately not all services cover all of our musical preferences. Sometimes we need more than one service, while other times, none of them provide the music we like. Seeing that there is this gap, Spotify seems to be working on a feature that will allow us to import our own music from Android phone, so that we don't have to leave the app at all to listen to the music we like.
The ability to add our own music to Spotify is not actually something new. The problem that existed with it was that it constituted a process that mainly concerned desktop and not so much portable devices. The user first had to upload the music to his desktop, using the Spotify desktop application. Only then could he download the same files to his phone for offline listening.
These days, however, many people carry their music in their pockets. Especially on Android, where they are free to place any file on internal or external storage. According to Twitter user Jane Manchun Wong, Spotify may soon allow users to upload music to Spotify. Or at least it is testing this feature.
Another feature that Wong noticed you are testing in the Android app is the saving of podcasts for later. Users will no longer need to remember or search again for that interesting podcast they came across, but didn’t have time to listen to. Spotify appears to be testing some UI changes to make the podcast screen look less chaotic.
Naturally, all of this is still in a testing stage and there is no guarantee that it will be carried out in the end.
