Microsoft: Connection error for many Outlook mail users

Microsoft Outlook recently experienced some outages, with some users no longer able to log in to their accounts for several hours.

While the giant has not confirmed any problems with Outlook mail, there are reports that at least some regions were affected by the issue.

The error most users received is the following (regardless of the browser they were using):

"We can't connect you to Outlook. This may be because you have an out-of-date bookmark. Try connecting to https://outlook.live.com/owa/ and updating your bookmark."

Outlook

There are no further details on what happened at this time, but it appears that both the web-based version of the service and the apps connected to it were unable to access the inbox. The Windows 10 Mail app was also not working.

The good news for those of you who encountered this particular problem is that the service created backups.

Needless to say, the error was caused by Microsoft, so there was no further action you could take. Resetting your password is not necessary, as there is no indication of a possible breach.
