Last week Nvidia unveiled its professional Quadro RTX series at SIGGRAPH 2018. As expected, the company has now also revealed its latest consumer-focused graphics cards, the new GeForce RTX 2000 series, at Gamescom in Germany.
Just like the Quadro series, the RTX 2080 is also based on Nvidia's recently unveiled Turing architecture. The company unveiled the RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080 Ti, promising up to 6x better performance than their predecessors.
These graphics cards support real-time ray tracing to facilitate more realistic lighting effects and reflections that will make games feel much more like movies.
With specialized Tensor, RT cores, and a highly stacked set of transistors in the new Turing architecture, these GPUs will be a delight for the entire video gaming community.
The GeForce RTX 2000 series graphics cards are expected to arrive at Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and Zotac. The RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti cards are available for pre-order now, but won't start shipping until September 20th.
Nvidia is also offering Founders Editions for all three graphics cards. The Founders Edition for the GeForce RTX 2070 will cost $599, while the RTX 2080 will cost $799 and the RTX 2080 Ti $1,199.
Meanwhile, Intel also released a video teaser for its first discrete GPU which is expected to arrive by 2020.
