Just 1 Year of Smartphone Use Can Cause Memory Loss

smartphoneHow many times have our elders warned us about the dangers of using a smartphone? And yet, we never listen to them, thinking that they are just saying things without backing them up with any research.

However now, a new study reports that just one year of radiation from the smartphone is enough to damage a teenager's brain.

According to the report published by Environmental Health Perspectives in Switzerland, researchers found a link between smartphone radiation and short-term memory loss in adolescents.

More than 700 adolescents aged 12 to 17 were exposed to electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMF) emitted by smartphones during calls.

The study yielded negative results, as the students took an image test and an oral test one year after the start of the research.

It is important to note here that the negative effects on the brain occurred only when I held the phone close to their heads. Activities such as gaming, sending messages, or browsing the internet do not necessarily affect the brain, as the radiation is far from the head.

Nevertheless, researcher Martin Röösli warns that more research is needed in this area, to see how other factors such as adolescence have played a role in the study. She clarifies that the radiation from the phone is likely to cause damage to the brain.

According to the research, you can minimize the effects of RF-EMF radiation by using headphones and a speaker, so that you do not hold the phone close to your head.
