Chinese tech company OnePlus has released its long-awaited new smartphone, the OnePlus 6. It will feature a AMOLED display, the much-talked-about notch, and will cost $529.
The phone will be available in three colors: Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and a limited edition Silk White. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and will come in two RAM options (6GB and 8GB).
The phone's design resembles the iPhone X, which could be seen as another attempt to copy Apple. For the first time, OnePlus is offering three storage options. You'll be able to choose between 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB models.
According to Carl Pei, co-founder of One Plus, the OnePlus 6 is the fastest flagship the company has ever released, with the tagline "The Speed You Need" accompanying it.
The device comes with OnePlus' Oxygen OS 5.1, which has been tweaked to improve the user experience. For the safety of the phone, Gorilla Glass 5 has been used on both sides.
The phone's camera hasn't changed much since the 5T. The latest model is equipped with a dual 20 MP + 16 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. It also adds optical image stabilization for clearer photos.
Users can record 4k videos at up to 60 fps, which is an unprecedented feature. A default video editor has also been placed for video editing.
Additionally, the model is described as having "improved water resistance," although no further details are given about this feature.
Surprisingly, the OnePlus 6 has a headphone jack, although the company has released wireless headphones to compete with Apple.
The OnePlus 6 will go on sale in India from May 21 for Amazon Prime subscribers and from May 22 for everyone else.
