AMOLED screens are the star of new smartphones!

A new Digitimes report reveals that AMOLED screens will appear in about 27.6% of smartphones that will be released in 2017. The share of AMOLED screens could increase by 50% over the next three years.AMOLED

According to the report Samsung Display continues to dominate the global supply of AMOLED screens representing more than 350 million smartphones for 2016. The Chinese companies Oppo and Vivo had a combined market share of over 20%.

Most smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi have already started installing AMOLED screens since last year. Apple is also expected to switch to AMOLED screens with the new iPhone 8, which marks the 10thanniversary of the series. However, the company's other two new models seem to retain LCD screens.

Samsung and Apple plan to take the majority of AMOLED screens for 2017, resulting in the other manufacturers having a smaller share available. LG Display, Sharp and Japan Display have already started production of AMOLED screens.

Taking into account the high demand, screen prices will increase in the second quarter of 2017 while LCD prices will gradually decrease. Research supports that prices for the core components of smartphones will rise this year, forcing some manufacturers to change their strategy by offering phones at affordable prices with strong performance.

RAM prices will increase by 10% annually, as will UFS components. This means that smartphone prices will gradually increase. So is this one of the reasons for the high price ($1,000) of the new iPhone 8?
