Windows 10 Lean: Rumors claim that Microsoft is preparing a new version of Windows 10 called “Lean” which could be released with the Redstone 5 update in the fall.
Windows 10 Lean is in beta and is 2GB smaller compared to the full version of the operating system.
Microsoft intends to equip devices running Windows 10 Lean with low specifications and will target users with only 16GB of storage.
This means that Windows 10 Lean will be installed on budget systems such as tablets and entry-level notebooks, but the company, despite the lower specifications, is not going to compromise on functionality.
Features like the Registry Editor and Internet Explorer may be missing from Windows 10 Lean, in an effort to make the new version as lightweight as possible.
With Windows 10 Lean, Microsoft is also trying to keep low-end devices up to date, especially as OS updates tend to grow in size and consume more space on hard drives. It should be noted that these systems will continue to receive updates as normal, as storage will not be an issue.
As we mentioned earlier, Windows 10 Lean will likely see the light of day with the Redstone 5 update in the fall. Of course, nothing is certain yet as the Redstone 5 update is in its early stages, so far only providing preview builds as part of the Skip Ahead ring.
