Although there was no official announcement, Microsoft has delayed the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update, which was scheduled to be released on April 10. It was reported that a technical issue was the reason why the release date was postponed.
Insider Build 17133 was expected to be the RTM build for Windows 10 version 1803, but the company released RS4 Build 17134 to Fast Ring Insiders. Microsoft didn't say what caused the bug, but it did indirectly admit that it was causing the infamous Blue Screen of Death, so that's a good reason to change the release date.
“We discovered some reliability issues that we wanted to fix. In some cases, for example, these issues could lead to a higher rate of Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) on computers,” Dona Sarkar said in a statement. Microsoft chose to create an entirely new version rather than include the fixes in an update via Windows Update.
Now, Build 17134 is considered the final version, according to sources at The Verge. After being released to Insiders via the Release Preview Ring and the Slow Ring, it is expected to be officially released in the coming days – or perhaps next month – as Windows 10 version 1803.
New name
There have been several hints in the past that Windows 10 version 1803 would be called the Spring Creators Update. However, a new video from WalkingCat suggests a completely new and appropriate name: the Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
