Microsoft releases Cortana for Apple's iPad

Microsoft has just announced that its own digital assistant, Cortana, can also be installed on Apple's iPad, after the application was already launched last year for iPhones.

The iPad of Cortana is now available on the App Store with an interface and layout optimized specifically for the tablet. This means the app can take advantage of the additional screen space and present results and interactions more effectively.

In the official release notes for version 2.6.8, Microsoft also claims that Cortana is now 20% more stable, although the same statement was also mentioned for the previous version's changelog.Cortana

Microsoft's Cortana brings to iOS almost the same features as all other digital assistants, although it goes without saying that it doesn't have the native integration of Siri.

This means you need to have the app running to interact with Cortana. Unfortunately, some functionality is missing, such as the assistant responding to your commands when the devices are locked.

These are Apple limitations that Microsoft can't ignore, but on the other hand, the company hopes that users committed to its own app ecosystem will stick with its personal assistant.

On iOS, Cortana also has support for the iPhone X, and it adapts perfectly to the screen ratio and the highly controversial notch design at the top. It can be installed on all iPhone and iPad models running iOS 9 or later, and currently only supports English.

It remains to be seen how many iPad users will replace Siri with Cortana.
