Kids have a tendency to destroy things. It's almost like a natural part of their development. And when they're not destroying things, they might just be drawing on them or trying to feed them to the family dog. Giving your kids your own expensive tablet is definitely a risk every time, but if you buy them their own to play with, it's more than likely going to break at some point.
Amazon's most popular tablets, the Fire series, were updated this year to be thinner and lighter with longer battery life. That includes the company's Kids Edition tablets. The Fire Kids Edition isn't a toy like some other tablets for kids — it's a fully functional device with a durable case to withstand a child's rough handling.
The Fire Kids Edition comes with a free year of its family-friendly subscription service, FreeTime Unlimited. (After that, it's $83/year for Prime members.) In addition to a wealth of kid-friendly content, FreeTime Unlimited lets parents set time limits for usage. The "Learn First" feature can even block access to games and videos until educational goals are met.
The most important feature, however, is the two-year warranty it provides. If the tablet breaks within two years, Amazon will replace it with no questions asked. You will, however, have to return the broken item, so if it's lost, you're out of luck.
Amazon wants you to use its devices so you can buy more things for them. That's how its business model works. So maybe this is a move to keep you paying for its devices and apps. But it's also a way to let your kids explore technology without worrying about them destroying your expensive devices.
You can get the Kids Editionon either the Fire 7 or Fire HD 8 and it's available in blue, pink, and yellow.
