Windows Phone: As we mentioned above, Windows 10 Mobile will receive nothing more than bug fixes and minor improvements in the coming months, but apparently that's not enough for Trekstor on the effort.
After announcing WinPhone 5.0 at IFA 2017, the company is now planning to start mass production, but it still needs public support.
Therefore, the company intends to launch a campaign with the aim of raising 500,000 euros. Undoubtedly, this is a controversial act and because the company understands the magnitude of the difficulty, it intends to offer a reward to those who wish to donate for the new device.
Initially, backers will receive the WinPhone 5.0 at a special price of just 209 euros instead of 249 (its original price). Either way, it's hard to believe that there are many Windows phone backers left, let alone those who would be willing to donate money to revive it.
The phone's specifications aren't very convincing. The device features a 5.0-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1270x720 and is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3 coating, which is already two generations behind existing flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S8. As for the processor, it features a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
It also offers a 13-megapixel camera as well as a non-removable 2250 mAh battery with a life of at least 24 hours.
Of course, for Windows Phone fans, seeing support from almost every company is encouraging, but given the current state of the platform, even if the €500,000 goal is reached, it's still impossible to believe that the phone will be a success.
