iGSKY, which presented itself as a gaming services website, offered players a way to pay for in-game credits, as well as to acquire rare items in games such as FIFA, Final Fantasy, and Aion Kinah.

Microsoft filed a complaint against the company in federal court on Friday.

Microsoft's investigation into iGSKY began in December 2016, when the company's internal researchers purchased over 11,000 FIFA points for $60, according to a report.

Shortly after, Xbox Live became aware that the login information for an eight-year-old account had been changed. That account proceeded to purchase 11,000 FIFA points for $127.54.

Microsoft later received a notification saying the points were available, and asked to spend them as soon as possible. The account owner later contacted Xbox to complain that he had been locked out of his account and that unauthorized transactions had been made on his account .

Microsoft accused Gameest International Network, the parent company of iGKSY, of engaging in an “international trafficking of stolen Microsoft account credentials,” saying in its complaint that it “fraudulently obtained virtual currencies from games.”.

The company added that Gameest "obtained millions of dollars in illegal profits.".

A judge has granted a temporary restraining order on Gameest, freezing its domestic assets as well as any PayPal associated with the site.

The website is currently down, although it is still available for viewing via.
