Google is preparing to release another security feature for Android devices, called Google Play Protect.
Google Play Protect will be part of the Google Play Store app, and will use machine learning to analyze app usage with the aim of eliminating dangerous and malicious apps, which we often encounter in the company's Store.
When Google Play Protect is integrated into the Google Play Store, users will not need to install or enable this security feature separately.
Google Play Protect is a service that will always be available and according to the company it detects 50 billion apps per day on one million Android devices.
Google has already implemented some security measures to keep your smartphone safe, such as its Verify Apps service and Bouncer service. But once apps are uploaded to the Play Store and installed on your device, Google has nothing to monitor the behavior of those apps, which is something that malicious app developers know and exploit.
So with an automatic run in the background, Google Play Protect will analyze devices and their apps. It should be noted that the new security feature will not only analyze apps before they appear in the Play Store but will also monitor them once they are installed on the device, as well as apps installed from third-party stores.
For this reason, Google uses machine learning algorithms that automatically compare the behavior of apps and distinguish those that are working abnormally. If it encounters a malicious app, it will warn you or even immediately disable the app to prevent further damage.
Google says the service will run around the clock to protect against even the latest threats.
With the launch of Google Play Protect, Android Device Manager will be replaced with the Find My Device app, which is used to locate lost devices.
You will be able to use your browser or any other device to remotely call, locate, lock your device, or even wipe the data to protect your sensitive information remotely.
Find My Device is the same old app, but Google has included it in the new Google Play Protect program.
With Safe Browsing in Chrome, Play Protect will allow users to stay safe while browsing the Internet.
Viruses, malware, and worms usually enter your smartphones and computers through malicious web browsers. So, if you visit any website that is acting suspiciously, Safe Browsing will warn you and block any pages that appear compromised or unsafe.
Google Play Protect will be rolling out to Android devices in the coming weeks.
