Soon, you may be able to retrieve the «drunk» or unjustly angry messages on WhatsApp.
The messaging service is said to test the ability for you to edit or recall messages that have already been sent. This means you can delete or edit a message, even after your friend's phone has received it.
The feature only works if the recipient hasn't read the message yet. For WhatsApp, this is indicated by a blue check mark. If the message has simply been received by a phone but not read, the feature still exists.
The feature was first highlighted by the Twitter account @WABetaInfo, which monitors the features that WhatsApp is testing on the platforms.
The feature is currently being tested in the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. The updated version adds the “recall” and the “edit” option for messages that have not yet been read. From the screenshots, it appears that the message has been replaced with the ” Sender revoked the message ” – so your friends will know that you want to change something.
WhatsApp is also reportedly testing a feature that might remind you of Snapchat’s “Stories.” It will enhance the current “Status” feature, where users can add an image with a caption or doodle that disappears after 24 hours. Similar to Snapchat and Instagram, users can also reply to other people’s stories.
A third feature currently being tested, called “live location tracking,” allows users to let other people in a chat group monitor their location in real time.
Given that the features are still in an experimental stage, there is no guarantee when or if they will become more widely available.
