Most of us know that it's not appropriate to look at our smartphones in a movie theater, but what do we do in the event that our smartwatch turns on when we raise our hand to scratch our nose?
You can make the signature move of covering your wrist and Apple Watch before anyone notices the small beam of light radiating from your seat!
Android smartwatch owners already have a solution: It's called Theater Mode, and it essentially temporarily turns off the screen and notifications (including support structures).
As Apple Watch owners and movie buffs, many of us have been longing for this nifty little Android feature, but now Apple is preparing a watchOS 3.2 update that will include Apple's own version of Theater Mode.
Theater Mode will allow Apple smartwatch owners to keep the screen and notifications off during a movie — even if they raise their hand, the watch's screen won't light up. They'll still be able to feel notifications through touch, though. If you want to see a notification, you can tap the screen or press the watch's digital crown.
watchOS 3.2 will bring some other updates, including access to Sirikit. It was released last year and will give developers direct access to basic Siri like calling, messaging, and photo search. App developers will be able to leverage these calls through their apps, which means Apple Watch users can, with those apps, use Siri to activate features with their voice.
Apple, however, has not announced when watchOS 3.2 will be released for Apple Watch users.
