Symantec Norton Core the router that blocks malware

Security company Symantec has decided to take home security to the next level and has introduced a new router that can block intrusions before they reach your connected devices.

It's called Norton Core, and it was introduced at CES 2017. The engine is capable of scanning all data packets transmitted from your connected devices to detect malware or any form of suspicious activity that could put your information at risk.Symantec Norton Core router

Symantec equipped the router with super powerful hardware to make sure that the connection speed would not be affected. Thus, the device has a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz that can guarantee a maximum speed of 2.5 Gbps.

“4K streaming, no problem. The Core is a performance powerhouse. With a 4×4 MU-MIMO foundation and ultrafast 802.11ac WiFi, the Core is designed to deliver peak throughput speeds of 2.5 Gbps. The innovative antenna design combined with advanced beamforming delivers incredible coverage and range,” Symantec says.

The router has an advanced system that uses what is called Security Score. What does it do? Security Score automatically monitors transmitted data and identifies any potential security issues, and assigns a score to help users prioritize the fixes needed on their networks.

In case the router detects any malicious activity, it automatically isolates the devices and sends a notification to the user, trying to protect all other connected devices and make sure that there will be no infection.

The router is available for pre-order now for $200, and Symantec says it will begin shipping in the summer of 2017. Additionally, those who order the new router will receive a free year of Norton Core Security Plus.
The protection package is for up to 20 devices, from PCs, Macs, smartphones to tablets.
